High Tea for Seniors
On Friday April 8 SHNC held a High Tea for Seniors as part of the NSW Seniors Week. Over 50 people attended the event and enjoyed a scrumptious high tea style lunch that was prepared and served by the participants of the Work for the Dole Hospitality Training Program that SHNC runs in partnership with TAFE Outreach, TAFE Hospitality and Mission Providence. The program has been running at the Centre from February – with great success and enjoyment of all involved! – and the high tea was the first occasion for the trainees to demonstrate their skills and talent. Not only the lunch was delicious, but the team worked as one and showed great comradery and professionalism.
The guests of the High Tea also got to hear a lecture by a guest speaker from Surry Hill Pharmacy, Tara Ly, about safe use of prescription medications and watch a program of 8 short films starring prominent senior Australian actors. The film program was kindly provided to us by the festival “Young at Heart” http://www.youngatheart.net.au/2016-program/
We are grateful to our guests for coming and extend our gratitude to the hospitality program trainees for making this occasion so special!
