Read MoreIn the world as it is today, children give us a priceless gift – they remind us that wonderful things are everywhere! You and your child have an exciting journey ahead, and at our Centre we are grateful to be part of this journey.
Combining love for old-world values with the exciting principles of modern day education, we aim to inspire the children in our care to be creative and to enjoy discovery and learning.
Provided by the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre – proudly serving the community for over 40 years.
Our purpose is to build a strong and inclusive community in Surry Hills – it has been since 1978. Our dedicated team is here to provide a safe, healthy and caring environment where people can connect, access support, learn new things, and give to others. Everything we do is driven by respect and social justice and is a celebration of equality and diversity.
We are here to build a strong and inclusive community in Surry Hills. We are a dedicated team who have been working with the local community of Surry Hills since 1978 to promote social justice, diversity and inclusion. SHNC provides a space for everyone whether you wish to connect to your community, access support, learn something new, or have the opportunity to contribute back.
A local gathering place for social housing tenants!. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee or joining in on one of our activities, we’re here to create a warm and welcoming space for all.
All members of the community are welcome to join our Tai Chi class. Our teacher has extensive experience, including with students who’ve never tried it before, so it doesn’t matter if you’re not in top shape!
You are welcome to take part in our community cooking and wellness programs, run by nutritionists and other wellness professionals. Whether you’re young or elderly, healthy or a little out of shape, an expert cook or new to the kitchen, there’s something here for you! These classes are as much fun as they are educational.
Come and join us at the Friday Café Hub – a welcoming space for all in the community. Whether you’re stopping by for a coffee, a chat, or just to enjoy some good company, we look forward to seeing you.
Our centre provides a variety of programs and services aimed at enriching the lives of children and families through education, recreation, and social engagement. We look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey within our community.

The Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre wouldn’t be half of what it is without our wonderful volunteers and members. While we receive some government funding and support, these resources don’t cover all the important services we offer.
Become a volunteer and make a positive impact on your local community – and reap benefits and gain fulfilment from being active and socially engaged, too!
