Our Governance & Constitution

Our Governance Committee is made up of nine committed members of the community who oversee the Centre’s activities, finances and participate in strategic planning. They contribute time, energy, skills and experience to monthly meetings and the regular operations of the Centre. Our Governance Committee is bound by our constitution and adhere to its guidelines for all decision making processes and activities.

All members of the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre are eligible to be nominated for the Centre’s Governance Committee. Governance Committee members are normally nominated and elected at the SHNC Annual General Meeting, held in November each year. The committee consists of four office bearers, president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary, and five other members. Vacancies (when there are less than 9 members) can be filled at any time during the year.
