Call Out for Recipe Video Making Team

Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre has recently launched its own You Tube Channel where we upload our community recipe videos. This is a call out to community members who have skills filming these simple movies and editing movies using iMovie.

Roast Beetroot, Asparagus & Feta Salad

Beets are an underrated vegetable. If you think you don’t like them, try them in this recipe. Roasting brings out the beets’ natural sweetness, and the feta offers a nice, salty contrast.

With a great combination of carbohydrates from beetroot, this salad is perfect to combine with a chicken breast fillet! Making lunch at home or work easy and healthy!

Overdose Awareness Day

Last month we had the pleasure of joining these legends from NUAA NSW and the Kirketon Road Centre at the Northcott Housing Estate for Overdose Awareness Day.

It was beautiful sunny day with COVID safe food, fun and music.

Do Drop In Day Launch

Last Friday we launched our new weekly program – Do drop In Day.

This is held between 10.30am and 2.30pm every Friday.

The centre is open to individuals (and a support person) to provide an opportunity for them to connect over Devonshire Tea in a Covid Safe way. Feeling isolated or simply haven’t popped in for a while – this is for you.

Community Mask Making Project

Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, with the help of our wonderful community members, are making reusable masks to be distributed amongst our community members who are on low income and may not have engaged in mask wearing yet.

Lemonade Scones

Check out our new recipe. We’ve chosen a classic this time – Not so healthy but much loved. If you’re a regular at our Community Café, you will have tasted these there.

Quick Chickpea Curry

This quick chickpea curry is easy to make any night of the week. It’s packed with veggies and has an extra kick of turmeric for added antioxidants. It’s easy to use any vegetables you have on hand. This is a root to stem recipe.

Hepatitis Awareness Day

What a beautiful morning today! 28th July 2020 at Northcott Community Centre

A big thank you to everyone for a successful community event in some challenging times. It was wonderful to bring our services together and keep engaged with the communities we work with.
